Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Hosts Talent Hunt for High School Students

The local graduate chapter Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. recently hosted its first Annual Talent Hunt Competition at the Hiland Theater in Albuquerque.

Eleven extremely talented high school students competed for a $1,000 grand prize and the chance to advance to the fraternity’s district competition in Kansas City, Missouri.

Sidney Hill, New Mexico State Representative for Omega Psi Phi, said this competition aligns with one of the fraternity’s cardinal principles—Scholarship.

“It has been proven over time that young people who participate in the arts perform better academically,” he said.

Vocalist Aleena Lissette Carter, from East Mountain High School, won the Albuquerque competition.

Amadi Oubichon, a Highland High Sophomore, took second place with a phenomenal dance routine. Highland High Junior Zavier Thompson took third place with a performance of a song he composed himself.
